Episode 1: The Big Match

Characters: Tom and Harry

Tom: (sitting on the couch watching a football game on TV) Come on, come on… Yes! Goal!

Harry: (enters the room) Tom, it’s midday, how long are you going to watch football?

Tom: Oh, Harry, come on, don’t you love it? It’s the English Premier League!

Harry: I like football, but you’re turning into a couch potato.

Tom: (laughs) Says you, the guy who binge-watches Netflix every weekend.

Harry: (sighs) Alright, alright, what’s going on in the match?

Tom: (exclaims) The match! Sorry, Harry, I forgot you don’t understand football. It’s Arsenal versus Manchester United.

Harry: (sarcastic) Oh, yippee, my favorite teams.

Tom: (ignoring Harry’s sarcasm) This is a big game, Harry. Arsenal and Manchester United are both fighting for a top-four finish this season.

Harry: (confused) What’s so important about that?

Tom: (animatedly) The top four teams in the Premier League qualify for the Champions League, the biggest club football competition in the world. You get to face teams from all over Europe.

Harry: (jokingly) Wow, life goals.

Tom: (laughing) You don’t know what you’re missing, Harry.

Episode 2: The Football Trivia Challenge

Characters: Tom and Harry

Tom: (watching a football match on TV) Harry, you know what would be great? A football trivia challenge.

Harry: (skeptical) I don’t know much about football, Tom.

Tom: (grinning) That’s exactly why I want to do it.

Harry: (shaking his head) Fine, let’s do it.

Tom: (getting excited) Alright, here’s my first question. Who won the first English Football League Championship?

Harry: (thinking) Um, I don’t know.

Tom: (smugly) It was Preston North End in the 1888-1889 season.

Harry: (rolls his eyes) Okay, my turn then. Which team has won the most FA Cup trophies?

Tom: (confidence) That’s easy, Manchester United.

Harry: (smiling) Nope, it’s Arsenal with 14 trophies.

Tom: (shocked) No way!

Harry: (laughing) I told you, I’ve been doing my research.

Tom: (chuckles) Alright, I’ll give you that one. Okay, next question. Who is the all-time top scorer in the Premier League?

Harry: (thinking) Hm, is it Wayne Rooney?

Tom: (shocked and impressed) Wow, you got it.

Harry: (smiling) I told you, I’ve been watching football.

Tom: (laughing) I guess so. Alright, one more question. Which team has never been relegated from the Premier League?

Harry: (smiling) This one’s easy, isn’t it? Arsenal.

Tom: (rolls his eyes) Okay, okay, you win this one.

Episode 3: The Superstitious Fan

Characters: Tom and Harry

Tom: (wearing his Arsenal jersey) Alright, alright, it’s matchday!

Harry: (sarcastic) Oh, joy, more football.

Tom: (ignoring Harry’s sarcasm) This is a big game, Harry. Arsenal needs this win to stay in the top four.

Harry: (skeptical) And what are you going to do to help them win?

Tom: (confidently) Put on my lucky Arsenal jersey, of course.

Harry: (doubting) And how is that going to help?

Tom: (gesturing to his jersey) I always wear this jersey on matchday, Harry. It’s my lucky charm.

Harry: (rolling his eyes) Right, because that makes perfect sense.

Tom: (smiling) You’ll see, Harry. Arsenal always wins when I’m wearing this jersey.

(Throughout the match, Tom is getting more and more agitated as Arsenal is losing. He’s yelling at the TV and gesturing wildly.)

Harry: (laughing) Tom, calm down, it’s just a game.

Tom: (defeated) It’s not just a game, Harry. It’s my life.

(Halfway through the second half, Arsenal scores the equalizer. Tom jumps up and yells in excitement.)

Tom: I knew it, I knew it! It’s all because of my lucky jersey!

Harry: (shaking his head) You superstitious fan.

Episode 4: The Fantasy Football Draft

Characters: Tom and Harry

Tom: (looking at his laptop) Hey, Harry, are you going to join my Fantasy Football league this year?

Harry: (confused) What’s that?

Tom: (animatedly) It’s a game where you pretend to be a football manager. You pick players from all the teams in the Premier League, and then compete against other people in your league to see who has the most points at the end of the season.

Harry: (skeptical) And how do you earn points?

Tom: (excitedly) For every goal, assist, clean sheet, and other things like that. It’s so much fun, Harry.

Harry: (smiling) Okay, I’ll give it a try.

Tom: (grinning) Yes! I’ll email you the details for the draft.

(A few days later, Tom and Harry meet up for the draft.)

Tom: (excitedly) Alright, Harry, are you ready for the draft?

Harry: (nervously) Um, I think so.

Tom: (smirking) Don’t be nervous, Harry, you’re playing against the master.

(Throughout the draft, Tom picks all his favorite Arsenal players, while Harry is picking players he’s never even heard of. Tom is getting more and more smug with each pick he makes.)

Tom: (glancing over at Harry’s picks) Oh, Harry, what are you thinking? You’re never going to win with a team like that.

Harry: (defeated) I don’t know what I’m doing, Tom. I’m just picking players I’ve heard of.

Tom: (smirking) Well, that’s your first mistake. You have to pick the best players, the ones with the most potential to score points.

(Halfway through the season, Tom’s team is doing terrible. Harry’s team, on the other hand, is in the top three of the league.)

Tom: (shocked) How is this possible, Harry? My team is full of stars!

Harry: (laughing) It’s called doing research and picking players who have been in form, Tom.

Tom: (defeated) You’re right, Harry. I should have listened to you.

Harry: (grinning) Maybe next season, Tom.

Episode 5: The Football Hooligans

Characters: Tom and Harry

Tom: (watching the TV in horror) Harry, did you see that?

Harry: (looking at the TV) Yeah, what’s going on?

Tom: (animatedly) Football hooligans, Harry. They’re causing a riot at the stadium.

Harry: (concerned) That’s terrible.

Tom: (angrily) It’s ruining the beautiful game, Harry. Football should be a peaceful sport.

Harry: (sighing) I know, Tom, but unfortunately, there will always be a few bad apples who ruin it for everyone.

Tom: (wistfully) I just wish we could all come together and enjoy the sport we love without violence.

Harry: (smiling) That’s a nice thought, Tom.

Tom: (determinedly) One day, Harry. One day.

Episode 6: The Football Match

Characters: Tom and Harry

Tom: (watching the TV) Harry, this is it. The big match.

Harry: (sighing) Do we have to watch football again?

Tom: (excitedly) This is the FA Cup final, Harry. It’s a huge game.

Harry: (sarcastic) Oh, great. I can hardly contain my excitement.

Tom: (laughing) Come on, Harry, it’s going to be a great game.

(The match starts off slow, with neither team really taking control. Tom and Harry are getting antsy.)

Tom: (yelling at the TV) Come on, Arsenal, wake up!

Harry: (laughing) Tom, you know they can’t hear you, right?

(The second half starts, and the game gets more intense. Arsenal gets a penalty.)

Tom: (yelling at the TV) Yes, come on, come on, score!

(Harry is enjoying the game, but not as much as Tom.)

Harry: (smiling) You really get into this, don’t you?

Tom: (excitedly) It’s the passion of the game, Harry. You wouldn’t understand.

(In the 90th minute, Arsenal scores the winning goal.)

Tom: (jumping up and down) Yes, yes, yes! Arsenal wins the FA Cup!

Harry: (smiling) Congrats, Tom.

Tom: (grinning) Thanks, Harry. You see, you’re starting to get it.

Episode 7: The Transfer Deadline Day

Characters: Tom and Harry

Tom: (looking at his phone) Harry, do you know what day it is?

Harry: (confused) Um, Wednesday?

Tom: (animatedly) No, Harry, it’s transfer deadline day!

Harry: (rolling his eyes) Oh joy.

Tom: (grinning) You don’t understand, Harry. This is the day when all the clubs in the Premier League can buy and sell players.

Harry: (skeptical) And why is that important?

Tom: (excitedly) It’s exciting, Harry. All the clubs are trying to make their team better for the rest of the season.

Harry: (sarcastic) Wow, I can hardly contain my excitement.

Tom: (ignoring Harry’s sarcasm) Alright, alright, let’s see what’s happening.

(Throughout the day, Tom is constantly checking his phone for transfer updates, while Harry is just sitting on the couch, bored.)

Tom: (smirking) Oh, Harry, you’re missing out. Manchester United just signed a new striker.

Harry: (rolling his eyes) Whoop-dee-doo.

Tom: (animatedly) Wait, wait, Arsenal just sold a midfielder to Real Madrid!

Harry: (shocked) What? No, no, no!

Harry: (laughing) You really get into these things, don’t you?

Tom: (defeated) It’s the life of a football fan, Harry. One minute you’re up, the next minute you’re down.

Episode 8: The Football Quiz Night

Characters: Tom and Harry

Tom: (excitedly) Harry, I signed us up for a football quiz night.

Harry: (rolling his eyes) Great, more football trivia.

Tom: (grinning) It’ll be fun, Harry. We can test our knowledge against other football fans.

Harry: (skeptical) And what if we embarrass ourselves?

Tom: (confidently) We won’t, Harry. I’ll make sure we’re ready.

(The quiz night starts off slow, with easy questions like, “Who won the last World Cup?” and “Who is the current Premier League top scorer?”)

Tom: (smiling) See, Harry, easy-peasy.

Harry: (laughing) It’s just the warm-up, Tom.

(The questions start to get harder, and Tom and Harry are struggling.)

Tom: (whispering to Harry) Come on, Harry, think. Who scored the winning goal in the 1999 Champions League final?

Harry: (thinking) I don’t know, Tom.

Tom: (frustratedly) It was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Harry. You should know that.

Harry: (laughing) Sorry, Tom. I’ll try to do better.

(Despite their struggles, Tom and Harry actually end up doing pretty well at the quiz night. They come in third place, winning a prize of a signed football.)

Tom: (grinning) I told you, Harry. Football knowledge pays off.

Episode 9: The Football Predictions Game

Characters: Tom and Harry

Tom: (looking at his phone) Harry, do you want to play a game?

Harry: (curious) What game?

Tom: (excitedly) It’s a predictions game. You pick the winners of the Premier League matches, and you get points for every correct prediction.

Harry: (smiling) That sounds fun.

Tom: (grinning) It is fun, Harry. And I’m the best at it.

Harry: (sarcastic) Of course, you are.

Tom: (laughing) Alright, let’s get started.

(Throughout the week, Tom and Harry text each other their predictions for the upcoming Premier League matches. Tom is always extremely confident in his predictions, while Harry is more cautious.)

Tom: (texting) Harry, what are you thinking? Arsenal are definitely going to beat Aston Villa.

Harry: (texting) I don’t know, Tom. Aston Villa have been in form lately.

Tom: (texting) You’ll see, Harry.

(At the end of the weekend, Tom and Harry tally up their points.)

Tom: (inspecting his phone) Yes! I got 7 out of 10 predictions correct!

Harry: (smiling) Not bad, Tom. But I got 8 out of 10.

Tom: (shocked) What? No way!

Harry: (laughing) You’ll have to do better next time, Tom.

Episode 10: The End of the Season

Characters: Tom and Harry

Tom: (watching the TV) Harry, it’s the end of the Premier League season.

Harry: (smiling) Finally, you can stop watching football for a while.

Tom: (laughing) You wish, Harry.

Harry: (jokingly) You’re never going to get a girlfriend if you keep watching football all the time, Tom.

Tom: (smiling) Who needs a girlfriend when you have football?

Harry: (laughing) You do realize football can’t love you back, right?

Tom: (ignoring Harry’s comment) Alright, let’s see who won the league.

(Arsenal has finished in fourth place, just qualifying for the Champions League.)

Tom: (disappointed) Ah, I was hoping for a higher finish for Arsenal.

Harry: (smiling) You can’t win them all, Tom.

Tom: (teasingly) Easy for you to say, Mr. Fantasy Football winner.

Harry: (laughing) I guess I got lucky.

Tom: (smiling) It was a great season, though, Harry. Can’t wait for next year.

Harry: (jokingly) Oh joy.

(They both laugh and continue to watch the post-season analysis on TV.)
